Company Overview
Located in central Alabama, Buchanan Timber and Forestry is a fourth-generation, family-owned timber and land service company. On top of managing our own land base and purchasing standing timber, we offer a full array of timberland management and consultation services to landowners throughout central Alabama. We have decades of experience in timberland management spanning from land acquisition and land management to final timber harvest. Our staff of State Registered Foresters and Timber Dealers help landowners reach the full potential of their timber investments and are there to guide them every step of the way.
Our History
Buchanan Timber was originally formed as the land management division of Buchanan Hardwoods, the family owned sawmill company. Buchanan Timber's role was to manage the company's 50,000 acre land base used to support the various sawmills spread throughout Alabama. As the Buchanan footprint grew, Buchanan Timber began managing timberland for other landowners in addition to the company land and ultimately was managing up to 100,000 acres at any given time.
In 2001, Buchanan Timber became its own stand-alone entity and Buchanan Timber and Forestry, LLC was formed. In the following 17 years, we shifted from solely managing company and individual land bases to also operating a major timber dealership throughout central Alabama, which continues to this day.
